2023 Lake of the Woods Speedway Season Preview
#12
Bruce Berringer
4-Cylinders
Hometown: Kenora, ON
Berringer says he has been racing for 51 years (although there might be a few long breaks in there) and is technically retired from working, but keeps himself more than busy enough.
After a lifetime hiatus, Berringer made his way back to the racetrack in 2022 and won Rookie of the Year in 4-Cylinders at Lake of the Woods Speedway. His first race was on Season Opener July 3, where he finished fourth in heat two and eighth of eleven in the feature race.
His sponsors include – Nesbitt Sheet Metal Thunder Bay, Bells Property Service, ----- and pit crew is the Hall Family, Edward Bell, and anyone in the pits that lends a hand.
Berringer started his racing career at Riverview Raceway (Thunder Bay) in 1972. He helped many racers throughout the years and drove his own cars, learning different “tricks” of the trade.
“My brothers were always there to help and do the repairs to keep us racing. I have made many friends along the way. I love the sport and even at 68 years old, I still feel the need to compete.”
That is, if he can still get in and out of the car.
In 2023, he hopes to earn a couple checkered flags with the possibility of having a second 4-Cylinder with some guest drivers to compete.
“I want to show some of the youngsters that us old guys still have it!”
Promoter’s Thoughts – “As much as Bruce can be the jokster, he takes his racing VERY serious. He looked really good in the last couple races of the season and if anyone can bring home a win in 2023, it’s him. “
Don’t forget to turn left, Bruce!
